  1. Before Board, there was Excel. Excel, every controller's favorite tool,

  2. manually compiled, with a very high risk of errors

  3. and a very high risk of formula errors.

  4. So it had to change.

  5. In fact, the team was mainly occupied

  6. for days and weeks gathering data and processing it in

  7. Excel, and we never really got around to the actual work

  8. of controlling.

  9. The Diersch & Schröder Group has three segments: Energy,

  10. Chemicals, and Young Business.

  11. And all the companies use different underlying systems.

  12. We work with Business Central, an old AS400,

  13. Navision, and SAP.

  14. Now we need to bring these systems together and create standardized reporting

  15. so that we can compare performance across the group.

  16. We chose Board because all the other solutions were more

  17. finance-focused, and we knew we didn't just want to analyze

  18. financial KPIs, but also other figures in the future,

  19. or rather, other data. So Board was the best solution for us.

  20. With the data integration, we can access the data faster and

  21. analyze it faster. We're already working with the [Board] AI Agents,

  22. or rather, testing them,

  23. and we're hoping to gain further efficiencies because we won't have to

  24. spend time analyzing everything manually first. Instead,

  25. the agent can tell us where there's an issue, and we can immediately

  26. drill into it. So it really saves time.

  27. Management is currently working with Board, and they're very pleased

  28. that the KPIs are available at any time and that they can access them

  29. whenever they want and simply know where things stand.

  30. I believe the future of the DS Group is absolutely data-driven,

  31. and Board is the tool that will take us there.

Diersch & Schröder Group: From Excel complexity to data-driven decision-making with Board

With Board, the DS Group is transforming how it works with data, giving teams more time to focus on analysis and helping management make informed decisions with greater confidence.

In the video, Katja Makiol, Head of Group Controlling, also shares how the team is exploring the Board Agent to accelerate analysis, surface insights faster, and support more confident, data-driven decision-making.
