If I think about the role of Excel plus
-
AI and/or AI going forward, I
-
think there's definitely a place where they are today, and they will
-
continue to add tremendous value.
-
And we talked about the scenario planning, accelerating some
-
usage. I don't see it really replacing
-
systems of record, core EPM platforms.
-
I think it's really a complementary strategy.
-
Let's assume for a minute I could go and create
-
everything that I have
-
today in Board in an AI model. First of all, is that the
-
best way for me to go spend my time or my team's time?
-
Do I really trust, again, that it's going to give me the consistent answers that I
-
need
-
time after time? I'm not sure.
-
Who's going to maintain that? What happens if there are assumptions that are not
-
correct in there?
-
Again, go back to scalability. The scalability of relying on something
-
like that to really run the business makes me very nervous, and it just
-
doesn't seem like it's very practical.
-
But again, I don't think it's an all or nothing.
-
I think there's a lot of complementary ways that
-
AI will help. And Excel. And I think the combination
-
of AI within Excel. We use ChatGPT integrated into
-
Excel. I think it's super powerful.
-
It's a tool
-
for the analysts who really understand the business to combine
-
that business knowledge with
-
an accelerator, but also it allows me to have some
-
governance over the entire structure as we go
-
forward. That maintainability, that scalability, I feel like
-
is in a much better place with that combination.
-
So I would say the goal is not fewer spreadsheets.
-
They're not going away. I know I would certainly be concerned if someone tried to
-
take away my Excel. I think the real goal is how do we
-
have governed spreadsheets that are connected to your EPM
-
platform? I think that's really the future.
-
For us, the Board for Microsoft 365 capability really makes this a
-
reality.
