Activity Based Costing
Activity Based Costing (ABC) is a costing model that identifies the cost pools, or activity
centers, in an organization and assigns costs to products and services (cost drivers)
based on the number of events or transactions involved in the process of providing a
product or service.
ABC traditionally helps organizations in optimizing cost, determining what is driving these
costs, and thus giving managers the insight needed to allocate resources more
effectively.
BOARD provides a modeling environment that delivers powerful activity-based cost
analysis and "what-if" and "what-for" scenarios, so you can create and test new business
strategies. BOARD enables users to choose the most appropriate costing methodology for
each organizational unit and to drive costs across models in the easiest and fastest
way.
Costs can be allocated to more than an object at a time, enabling your organization to get
a single multidimensional report. That way you don't end up with inefficient separate
reports of your costs by customer, another by product, and another by channel. Your
organization gets a single multidimensional report that includes different costs
associated with supplying the same product to different customers, or the same customer
through different channels.
Thanks to the unique Toolkit approach, BOARD moves beyond typical activity-based
management tools by combining visual business modeling with advanced reporting analysis
and powerful data integration, all within a single integrated environment.
